Legislative Initiatives for Bike-Walk Alliance of New Hampshire
The Bike-Walk Alliance of New Hampshire works to ensure that New Hampshire laws support the rights of bicyclists and pedestrians. We often initiate and author new laws, update existing laws, and monitor legislative updates annually to ensure that the rights and safety of bicyclists and walkers .
2024 Legislative Session
For the 2024 legislative session, the Bike-Walk Alliance of New Hampshire is taking action on the following legislative items, which we feel affect bicyclists and pedestrians. House Bill 1543 (HB1543) – “Relative to Personal Electric Vehicles”. This bill was authored by the New Hampshire Rail Trails Coalition (NHRTC) to address the growing variety of “Personal Electric Vehicles” (PEVs) – i.e. electric motorcycles with pedals, electric unicycles, electric scooters, electric skateboards, electric hoverboards, Gopeds, Segways, Onewheels, and electric skates – to ensure that these categories of high-powered motorized vehicles are appropriately regulated and used on New Hampshire bike-ped trails (including rail trail), sidewalks, and roadways. Bike-Walk Alliance of New Hampshire strongly SUPPORTS this bill.
House Bill 1063 (HB1063) -“relative to motor vehicle speed within 10 miles per hour of the speed limit.” This bill seeks to add one or more stipulations that under certain conditions, motor vehicles will be allowed to travel 10 miles an hour over the posted\listed speed limit before law enforcement officials could issue a citation. Bike-Walk Alliance strongly OPPOSES this bill.

6) Click “Submit”
You must submit your testimony before the scheduled Hearing Date for that Committee.
