Speaking up for NH Pedestrians

Background

The Bike-Walk Alliance of NH actively promotes walking and hiking activities in addition to our focus on bicycling. Whether the program is aimed at children walking to school using safe facilities, adults walking to the local store, or anyone hiking in the woods, all such activities need to be done safely and for the infrastructure to support same. The well-publicized obesity problem in the US would be greatly reduced if more people used their legs to walk, hike, or bike instead of pushing a gas pedal.

There are quite a few walking and hiking programs and opportunities available in our state. We wish to provide information on all we learn about and we welcome knowledge of more programs. In the upcoming months, we will be working on the National Safe Routes to School program which promotes walking and biking on properly designed sidewalks and roadways. Our state of NH is entering a very interesting period in history as more people learn of alternate transportation methods starting with their own two feet!
