Manchester Regional Trails Alliance

Nutts Pond as viewed from the proposed Manchester to Salem rail trail

Introduction:

The MRTA is comprised of various trail and rail trail advocates in the Manchester NH area. The goal is to resume activities started by the Granite State Trails Alliance which was founded during the planning process of the Route I-93 widening project. The Office of Mayor Frank Guinta, Manchester Conservation Commission, Queen City Trails Alliance, Hands Across the Merrimack, Heritage Trail planners, Friends of the Goffstown Rail Trail, Granite State Wheelmen bike club, and BWA-NH were all represented at a meeting on November 26, 2007. The goal is to work together to promote both the construction and use of a connected trail system in and around Manchester with much of the system being on old rail corridors. Anyone desiring to work in partnership with others on trail advocacy, development, maintenance, and support is welcome.

Project updates:

Like several other rail trail groups, there is too much activity to post everything on this introductory page. And that's a good thing!
